An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 32nd minute of play forced San Lorenzo 11's goalkeeper Aurelio Astudillo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 36 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Patricio Costa. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Claudio Bucciarelli managed to get in a good position for a shot. San Lorenzo 11's supporters rose to their feet, but Claudio Bucciarelli was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tomas Illescas ran back to his position shaking his head. Claudio Bucciarelli fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Aurelio Astudillo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. In the 83rd minute of the match Venezuela got a corner. San Lorenzo 11's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Tomas Illescas ran over to the corner to take the kick. San Lorenzo 11:s Aurelio Astudillo showed great skill when he stopped Tomas Illescas:s penalty. In the 93rd minute of the match Venezuela got a corner. San Lorenzo 11's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag.
