Battle of death
Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Venezuela's Tomas Illescas started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 16 minutes of play, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Raul Brandao was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of ►Las Mercedes F.C◄ booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Correa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Patricio Costa struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Raul Brandao didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diómedes Rodriguez in the 41st minute of play. Calito Garcia's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Jonathan Ferrant firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 46th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raul Brandao saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

In the 51st minute Diómedes Rodriguez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s Raul Brandao played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 55th minute of play. Patricio Costa received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Raul Brandao came out and tried to block the shot, but Patricio Costa slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 60th minute. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Rigoberto Mina hit a great ball. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Calito Garcia, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. Tomas Illescass short, quick shot in the 77thth minute got Raul Brandao to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 80th minute, Tomas Illescas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Raul Brandao took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Patricio Costa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Raul Brandao made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tomas Illescas in the 91st minute. After 91 played minutes ►Las Mercedes F.C◄ got a freekick which was hit by Cheito Mota. Venezuela had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
