Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Axel Tasis started the match with the kick off. 4 minutes into the match, Rangers FC's goal looked a bit too open when Eliseo Noboa came free, but Fergus Fairbairn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 7 minutes into the match, Eliseo Noboa notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Rangers FC's Fergus Fairbairn. Fergus Fairbairn was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Angus Howison, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Danny Gilespie scored 1-1 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The Rangers FC fans' excitement grew in the 23rd match minute when Rangers FC's Danny Gilespie looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Danny Gilespie recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Eliseo Noboa received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Fergus Fairbairn came out and tried to block the shot, but Eliseo Noboa slotted it home off the left post making it 2-2 in the 30th minute. After having played for 35 minutes, Danny Gilespie managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rangers FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Danny Gilespie was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lautaro Puig took the ball and in the 48 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fergus Fairbairn. Fergus Fairbairn dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-2.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Danny Gilespie in the 55th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind. The supporters of Rangers FC booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lautaro Puig didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Angus Howison in the 60th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benito Sanz made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Danny Gilespie sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Danny Gilespie got free with Benito Sanz in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Connor Alsop kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. When Lautaro Puig came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Costa Rica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lautaro Puig couldn't finish the play. In the 72nd minute, Alan Moruga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Danny Gilespie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hugo Ferrant hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aaron Alcocer in the 88th minute of play forced Rangers FC's goalkeeper Fergus Fairbairn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tim Charles charged in rather forcefully in the 89th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tim Charles the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 89th minute, Tim Charles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 90 minutes of play, Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig made it 5-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fergus Fairbairn was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 95 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Hugo Ferrant. 97 minutes into the match, Stevie McGilvray dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Benito Sanz, 5-3. Many of Rangers FC's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Rangers FC may have spent more time on the ball, but Costa Rica were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
