Jacobo Nores didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Danny Gilespie went, in the 12th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Paraguay's Jacobo Nores played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Danny Gilespie in the 16th minute of play. Hector Covarrubias kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. Jacobo Nores didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Danny Gilespie went, in the 17th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. After 21 minutes of play, Rangers FC's Danny Gilespie made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jacobo Nores was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ronan McLaws hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Ivan Prats kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Danny Gilespie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Jacobo Nores took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Danny Gilespie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jacobo Nores showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ron McLeish, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Paraguay's Jaime Pardo got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Primitivo Escribano charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Primitivo Escribano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 37th match minute, Paraguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Primitivo Escribano to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Rangers FC getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Stevie McGilvray hit a great ball. 42 minutes into the match, Rangers FC's goalkeeper Fergus Fairbairn had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jaime Pardo. Hector Covarrubias struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Fergus Fairbairn didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Paraguay. Jacobo Nores took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ron McLeish, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jaime Pardo was the one to do the kick off. Ronan McLaws hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Paraguay's Hector Covarrubias got a free kick in the 60th minute. The supporters of Paraguay booed when Rangers FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Danny Gilespie didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fergus Fairbairn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hector Covarrubias, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Danny Gilespie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacobo Nores having to interfere. 88 minutes into the match, Jaime Pardo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Fergus Fairbairn. Rangers FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jaime Pardo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Danny Gilespie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Jacobo Nores tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Although Paraguay had been in control for most of the match, Rangers FC still came away with the win.
