Jacobo Nores stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ron McLeish's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. The throw-in from Stevie McGilvray in the 28th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Paraguay's Alan Campos. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ron McLeish during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Rangers FC getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Ron McLeish hit a great ball. Alan Campos's late challenge caught a Rangers FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Danny Gilespie to strike the kick off in the second half. Xavier Zoido hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Stevie McGilvray's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jacobo Nores was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. Danny Gilespie's late challenge caught a Paraguay's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. A sloppy throw-in by Stevie McGilvray in the 89th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Paraguay's Xavier Zoido. After 91 played minutes Rangers FC got a freekick which was hit by Gary Gowan. When Hector Covarrubias came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Paraguay fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hector Covarrubias couldn't finish the play. Chants of Rangers FC echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Paraguay had held the ball for most of the match.
