Iurie Chiriacescu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-5 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Guga Trancoso was the one to do the kick off. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredão Prestes in the 51st minute of play. Guga Trancoso took the ball and in the 54 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rolando Noboa. Rolando Noboa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-5. 57 minutes into the match, PIAUÍ FC's goal looked a bit too open when Eliseo Mina came free, but Iurie Chiriacescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to PIAUÍ FC getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Víktor Santos hit a great ball. 63 minutes into the game, Renato Sá threw the ball into play from the sideline. Peru's Efraim Gilabert quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. In the 65th minute of the match, Milagros Fraga got a very nice opportunity to score, but Iurie Chiriacescu was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Peru's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eliseo Mina was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Peru players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
