With an all-out effort, Panama's Gustaf Sjödin threw himself towards the right post 8 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Tomas Berganza, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 10th match minute, Panama was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Carita to maneuver through the defense. In the 13th minute, Nils-Emil Dahlbom made a precise shot to the right of Marcos Cotilla. Panama's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. In the 18th minute Tomas Berganza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustaf Sjödin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Panama's Abraham Alguacil got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Isidoro Sarmiento got free with Gustaf Sjödin in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tomas Berganza took the ball and in the 28 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gustaf Sjödin. Gustaf Sjödin dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Tomas Berganza managed to get in a good position for a shot. Panama's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Berganza was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gustaf Sjödin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Marcos Cotilla took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nils-Emil Dahlbom, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ove Dahlbom in the 34th minute of play. Through an outstanding action, after 35 minutes, Gustaf Sjödin successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. A collision led to Limhamns Stjärnor getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Vilhelm Drake hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice moves Abraham Alguacil could shoot a difficult shot in the 39th minute, which Gustaf Sjödin however easily saved by the left post. Panama's Marcos Cotilla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nils-Emil Dahlbom in the 44th minute of play. 47 minutes into the game, Jose Carita was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Panama's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Limhamns Stjärnor the free kick. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ove Dahlbom stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ove Dahlbom struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Marcos Cotilla didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Limhamns Stjärnor. Nils-Emil Dahlbom hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Isidoro Sarmiento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Gustaf Sjödin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Olle Knutsson during the 65th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 65th minute, Olle Knutsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gustaf Sjödin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jose Carita, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. After 72 played minutes Limhamns Stjärnor got a freekick which was hit by Håkan Wallman. 74 minutes into the match, Limhamns Stjärnor's goal looked a bit too open when Abraham Alguacil came free, but Gustaf Sjödin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 78 minutes, Tomas Berganza managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Panama's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Berganza was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 86th minute Abraham Alguacil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustaf Sjödin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gustaf Sjödin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Berganza, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Limhamns Stjärnor's zone, Tomas Berganza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gustaf Sjödin came out of the goal and Tomas Berganza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
