Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adrian Chorche in the 22nd minute of play. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from 庞城梁 in the 24th minute of the match. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 庞城梁 in the 29th minute of play. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, 莫天勇 kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. After the first half 巴黎圣日尔曼 were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers 庞城梁 in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind. The audience was convinced that 庞城梁's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benito Sanz was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. 巴黎圣日尔曼 made a substitution. Gao Xiang Tian replaced Adrian Chorche. Benito Sanz was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but 黄云国 showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-8 in the 74 minute of play. If 庞城梁 had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The crowd rose to their feet as 庞城梁 kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Benito Sanz. That made the score 0-11 in the 89 minute of play. 魏天 might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. 魏天 ran back to his position shaking his head.
