During the 25th minute of the match Tomas Illescas completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Tomas Illescas a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Tomas Illescas hit a great ball. Jonathan Ferrant made an important save on a dangerous shot by Julio Baptista in the 27th minute. JEC - FC were awarded a corner in the 28th minute after Venezuela's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Liu Xiang Zhen took the corner. In the 34th minute, Geovani Garcia ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. In the 37th minute Pero Šiljak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. JEC - FC's Pero Šiljak was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 38th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal in the 41st minute to try and stop a shot by JEC - FC's Geovani Garcia. But to his dismay, Geovani Garcia quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pero Šiljak in the 45th minute of play. With his leg Jonathan Ferrant managed to avoid a goal in the 47thth minute, when JEC - FC's Julio Baptista fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Patricio Costa made a kick off. 51 minutes into the game, Luisinho Abraão threw the ball into play from the sideline. Venezuela's Jonathan Venegas quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. 57 minutes into the game, Lech Spychalski was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. JEC - FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Venezuela the free kick. In the 57th match minute, JEC - FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lech Spychalski to maneuver through the defense. Luisinho Abraão made in the 60th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Julio Baptista. In the 70th minute, Pero Šiljak got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Julio Baptista scored 4-0 in the 73rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Tarcisio Galvão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pero Šiljak in the 81st minute of play. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Geovani Garcia in the 85th minute of the match. Patricio Costa hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Julio Baptista's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jonathan Ferrant was relentless in the 88th minute of the game. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Julio Baptista's shot from short distance in the 91st minute.
