An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 14th minute of play forced El Gallo's goalkeeper Tiaguinho Soeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 16 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Tiberiu Iordan came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Victor Chano hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. After having played for 19 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 21 minutes into the game, Guillermo Tohias was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. El Gallo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Venezuela the free kick. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Guillermo Mariano hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. 1-0 became the score in the 27th minute when Marcelo Honesto elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Guillermo Tohias kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. In the 36th minute, Venezuela's Rigoberto Mina seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Rigoberto Mina the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Venezuela protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Rigoberto Mina had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The supporters of El Gallo booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rigoberto Mina didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 41 minutes, Feng Xuan Xiang mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the El Gallo and the Venezuela players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to El Gallo getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Feng Xuan Xiang hit a great ball. Patricio Costa took the ball and in the 42 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tiaguinho Soeiro. Tiaguinho Soeiro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Patricio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tiaguinho Soeiro having to interfere. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marco Osmundo in the 47th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Jose Correa hit a great ball. 58 minutes into the match, Tiberiu Iordan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tiberiu Iordan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Venezuela's Patricio Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Tiberiu Iordan kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. Tiberiu Iordan scored 5-1 in the 69th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Patricio Costa hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. 80 minutes into the game, Marcelo Honesto cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 6-1. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 84th match minute, El Gallo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tiberiu Iordan to maneuver through the defense. In the 86th minute, Marcelo Honesto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A throw-in in the 87th minute of the game was made by Marcial Abancens with Marcelo Honesto as target, who quickly passed the ball forward.
