Rolando Noboa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Joe Herring in the 13th minute. Jerry Lodge showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 14th minute of the match. After having played for 16 minutes, Eliseo Mina managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Peru's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eliseo Mina was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 17th minute of play forced Valencia C.F.'s goalkeeper Jerry Lodge to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jerry Lodge took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luz Tejedor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Valencia C.F.'s Jerry Lodge played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 21st minute of play. 23 minutes into the game, Ryan Plumber was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Valencia C.F.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Peru the free kick. Luz Tejedor might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jerry Lodge. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luz Tejedor ran back to his position shaking his head. Guillermo Farré fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rolando Noboa having to interfere. Valencia C.F.'s Jerry Lodge played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 32nd minute of play. If Luz Tejedor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 42nd minute, Oliver Bean hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

In the 61stth minute of the game Julian Murillo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Valencia C.F.'s Jerry Lodge was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Valencia C.F.'s Jerry Lodge proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save Valencia C.F. from getting a goal against them. 67 minutes into the match, Valencia C.F.'s Joe Herring sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rolando Noboa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Milagros Fraga made in the 72nd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Julian Murillo. In the 80th minute, Eliseo Mina fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Valencia C.F. made a substitution. Tuncay Candeğer replaced Alfred Claydon. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Peru made a substitution. Antonio Tenorio replaced Luz Tejedor. Rafael Gallo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Jerry Lodge made a huge save. Antonio Tenorio made a great header on Peru's corner, it was just that Valencia C.F.'s Jerry Lodge managed to reach the ball for a save. When the final whistle sounded Peru left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Valencia C.F..
