When Thomas Vollmar fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Newcastle United's protests and gave Thomas Vollmar a yellow card for diving instead. In the 29th minute, Thomas Vollmar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 36th minute, Camilo Gisbert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pankracy Malicki's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mikolaj Jerzyk having to interfere. In the 56th minute Thomas Vollmar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 61st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mikolaj Jerzyk. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. Newcastle United's Filip Orling was substituted for Julian Obuchowicz. In the 65th minute, Thomas Vollmar reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Julio Vera. The goal made the score 0-2. Mikolaj Jerzyk showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 68th minute of the match. 69 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mikolaj Jerzyk made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. In the 73rd minute, Newcastle United's Adam Pacholewski dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 81st minute of play forced Newcastle United's goalkeeper Mikolaj Jerzyk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 82 played minutes Newcastle United got a freekick which was hit by Adam Pacholewski. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Antonio Arias hit a great ball. 92 minutes into the match, Newcastle United's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Mikolaj Jerzyk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Thomas Vollmar in the 93rd minute. Julio Vera was a little too slow when Pankracy Malicki got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 95th minute. The score was now 1-4. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Newcastle United walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
