David Aberle made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 6 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Glenn Huez came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 11th minute of play forced Uetendorf Wanderers's goalkeeper David Aberle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 46th minute of the match Peru got a corner. Uetendorf Wanderers's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luz Tejedor ran over to the corner to take the kick. After some careless play in the Uetendorf Wanderers defense, Julian Murillo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of David Aberle. The Uetendorf Wanderers fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that David Aberle should have stopped the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 2-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Julian Murillo to strike the kick off in the second half. Julian Murillo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but David Aberle made a huge save. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Özcan Balcik, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Milagros Fraga got free with David Aberle in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. David Aberle made an important save on a dangerous shot by Julian Murillo in the 62nd minute. In the 67th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but David Aberle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With an all-out effort, Peru's David Aberle threw himself towards the right post 68 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Eliseo Mina, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Milagros Fraga recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. David Aberle showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eliseo Mina in the 80th minute of the match. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Glenn Huez in the 81st minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Julian Murillo got free with David Aberle in the 83rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Milagros Fraga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Peru made a substitution. The audience was convinced that Rafael Gallo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but David Aberle was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game.
