Agustín Saelices might have been able to make a better finish in the 14th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lucrețiu Sfetcu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Agustín Saelices ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 16th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lucrețiu Sfetcu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Basarab Panduru got free with Julio Vera in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Basarab Panduru in the 19th minute. Valer Perișoară charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Valer Perișoară the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Valer Perișoară hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt's Eric Gorcea was substituted for Valer Perișoară. Felix Montenegro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Lucrețiu Sfetcu made a huge save. Luis Andino could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Lucrețiu Sfetcu made a huge save. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Lucrețiu Sfetcu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador.
