A well-hit corner resulted in Felix Montenegro heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. When Eleuterio Ulizes fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Desfachatados F.C.'s protests and gave Eleuterio Ulizes a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Desfachatados F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Modesto Piarres didn't get a good kick on the ball. 13 minutes into the match, Desfachatados F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Esteve Pello reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eduardo Xabel during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Eduardo Xabel hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. In the 18th minute, Cristian Sancho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Esteve Pello read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. Esteve Pello stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daniel Zorita's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. 1-2 became the score in the 25th minute when Daniel Zorita elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Benjamin Cambranes's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. Esteve Pello took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Desfachatados F.C.'s Esteve Pello played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Montenegro in the 34th minute of play. After 36 minutes of play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Esteve Pello was left in no man's land by his defense there! Esteve Pello took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristian Sancho hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. After 43 played minutes, Desfachatados F.C.'s Melquiades Ritchie shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Julio Vera came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Desfachatados F.C. reached it. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The audience was convinced that Benjamin Cambranes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 51st minute of the game. Esteve Pello took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agustín Saelices, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Agustín Saelices hit a great ball. In the 65th minute, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Esteve Pello. Esteve Pello yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-4. After 71 played minutes Desfachatados F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Eduardo Xabel. After some careless play in the Desfachatados F.C. defense, Agustín Saelices kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Esteve Pello. The Desfachatados F.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Esteve Pello should have stopped the shot. When the match had gone on for 75 minutes, Luis Andino took a quick shot and it went in 1-6 without a chance for Esteve Pello to make any attempt to save it. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Esteve Pello read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 79th minute of play. When Ecuador's Cristian Sancho in the 83rd minute got a chance for a shot 83rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Desfachatados F.C.'s goalie prevented a goal. Esteve Pello came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Daniel Zorita. But to his dismay, Daniel Zorita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-7. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Esteve Pello having to interfere. A collision led to Desfachatados F.C. getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Narciso Pudes hit a great ball. After having played for 94 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Desfachatados F.C..
