Bogdan Lobonț made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felix Montenegro in the 10th minute of play. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Victor Piţurcă, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Emerald's Bogdan Lobonț played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Montenegro in the 15th minute of play. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 16th minute after Emerald's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. After 17 minutes of play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Bogdan Lobonț was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 20th match minute, Emerald was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Julio Iglesias to maneuver through the defense. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Bogdan Lobonț tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ecuador's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Victor Piţurcă 23 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. Bogdan Lobonț showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. A well-hit corner resulted in Felix Montes heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bogdan Lobonț having to interfere. In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Emerald's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Julio Iglesias in the 37th minute. In the 46th minute, Jaime Carioca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

Emerald made a substitution. Ioan Logofătu replaced Julio Iglesias. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Victor Piţurcă stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Bogdan Lobonț made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Andino in the 58th minute of play forced Emerald's goalkeeper Bogdan Lobonț to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bogdan Lobonț made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. In the 63rd minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Cristian Sancho fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Bogdan Lobonț quite easily take care of the ball. Emerald's Bogdan Lobonț proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 72nd minute of the match, managed to save Emerald from getting a goal against them. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 73rd minute. 74 minutes into the game, Ioan Logofătu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Emerald's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Emerald was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ioan Logofătu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Felix Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bogdan Lobonț made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 79th minute of play. After 83 minutes of play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho made it 1-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Bogdan Lobonț was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Felix Montes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bogdan Lobonț made an important save on a dangerous shot by Juan Sebastián Puig in the 89th minute. Ecuador's Luis Andino got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
