Carl Kalfhage could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 2nd minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. In the 5th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kent Näver saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sören Gregersson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Agustín Saelices had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 14th minute Luis Andino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kent Näver saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. INIXET BK's Kent Näver played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 16th minute of play. Kent Näver took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 25th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kent Näver saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 26th minute after INIXET BK's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. 34 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Carl Kalfhage came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 36 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Tom Lövgren who took care of the corner kick. 40 minutes into the match, Peder Alström dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Julio Vera, 1-0. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. After 53 played minutes INIXET BK got a freekick which was hit by Peder Alström. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind INIXET BK's goalkeeper Kent Näver, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kent Näver having to interfere. With a little luck, INIXET BK's Kent Näver got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 62nd minute, Peder Alström ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carl Kalfhage in the 74th minute of play. In the 79th minute, Sören Gregersson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Kent Näver made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 81st minute of play. In the 83rd minute Peder Alström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kjell-Arne Fredriksson kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kent Näver read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. In the 90th minute Carl Kalfhage shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Carl Kalfhage had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but INIXET BK were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
