When the match had gone on for 30 minutes, Asger Søder put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. In the 32nd minute Asger Søder shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 33 minutes had been played when some careless play by Venezuela's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner.
