Mexico's Alberto Tafalla got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Evelio Antoniano came out of the goal in the 29th minute to try and stop a shot by Mexico's Joel Gaona. But to his dismay, Joel Gaona quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Luca Zorita took the ball and in the 40 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Evelio Antoniano. Evelio Antoniano dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 44th minute, Paulo Laurentzi made a precise shot to the right of Dante Lacasa. Mexico's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The wind increased when Joel Gaona made the kick off in the second half. Criciúma Esporte Clube's Evelio Antoniano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 51st minute of play. Alberto Tafalla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Evelio Antoniano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Macos Graciani made in the 57th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Alberto Tafalla however managed to control. If Joel Gaona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 65 minutes into the match, Mexico's Alberto Tafalla sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Evelio Antoniano narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bieito Villaurreta in the 67th minute of play. If Joel Gaona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 69 played minutes Criciúma Esporte Clube got a freekick which was hit by Tauro Camero. 74 minutes into the match, Criciúma Esporte Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Evelio Antoniano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 76 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Bieito Villaurreta came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 80th minute, Paulo Laurentzi left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Criciúma Esporte Clube fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. Criciúma Esporte Clube's Paulo Laurentzi got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Evelio Antoniano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Criciúma Esporte Clube's Evelio Antoniano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 88th minute of play. Alberto Tafalla struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Evelio Antoniano didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Macos Graciani got a free kick in the 95th minute. The Mexico players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Criciúma Esporte Clube from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
