Spectators: 41 (Terracing: 32, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. If Pablo Lampard had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 6th minute of play forced Sport Clube Recife's goalkeeper Percy Fernandez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 6 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Percy Fernandez. Percy Fernandez dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Doctor Strange who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 9thth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 13 minutes of play, Sport Clube Recife's Doctor Strange made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! Doctor Strange could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. Sport Clube Recife's Percy Fernandez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 18th minute of play. 22 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Dong Yang Bang was slow to take the kick. During this time Sport Clube Recife's players had a chance to rest. Primitivo Andino tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Julio Vera. An unnecessary self made goal, 2-2 in the 22nd minute. Percy Fernandez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 25th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Gualter Penha's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Percy Fernandez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Luis Andino kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. 30 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Doctor Strange came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Percy Fernandez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 34th minute of play. After 34 minutes of play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita made it 2-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Percy Fernandez was left in no man's land by his defense there! Antonio Arias hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dong Yang Bang in the 38th minute of play. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Dong Yang Bang kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Doctor Strange to strike the kick off in the second half. After having played for 51 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 54thth minute of the game Gualter Penha who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 55 minutes, Percy Fernandez successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The supporters of Sport Clube Recife booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Sebastián Puig didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 58thth minute of the game Luis Andino who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sport Clube Recife's Percy Fernandez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Percy Fernandez in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Percy Fernandez made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. In the 64th minute of the match, Felix Montenegro got a very nice opportunity to score, but Percy Fernandez was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The supporters of Sport Clube Recife booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Sebastián Puig didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 80th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Percy Fernandez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 84 minutes into the game, Doctor Strange cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-3. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 87th minute, Daniel Zorita fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Percy Fernandez, passed just outside the right post. 94 minutes into the match, Sport Clube Recife's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Percy Fernandez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 95th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Agustín Saelices to maneuver through the defense. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Sport Clube Recife were victorious despite being under pressure from Ecuador for much of the match.
