In the 29th minute Claudio Cina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Ysmael Marfil in the 73rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match clock showed 87 minutes, the score became 4-4 when Claudio Cina sped through Ecuador's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Julio Vera. Cristian Sancho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ysmael Marfil having to make a save. Claudio Cina sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
