It was Florian Hekman who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Florian Hekman almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. In the 8th minute, SCs StarS's Thiago Gol dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. If Luis Andino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thiago Gol's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. In the 28th minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Petr Čech saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. The supporters of SCs StarS booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Sebastián Puig didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 40th minute Florian Hekman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, SCs StarS's Thiago Gol sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. SCs StarS's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Florian Hekman in the 54th minute. The corner ended in Florian Hekman almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. In the 61st minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Petr Čech saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jordy Dirks in the 63rd minute of the match. After 64 minutes of play, SCs StarS's Florian Hekman made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! When SCs StarS's Thiago Gol in the 74th minute got a chance for a shot 74th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thiago Gol in the 77th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thiago Gol struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SCs StarS. Agustín Saelices might have been able to make a better finish in the 79th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Petr Čech. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Agustín Saelices ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 79th minute, Wlodzimierz Kochanowski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. SCs StarS made a substitution. Robert de Graaf replaced Edgar Reitsema. In the 81st match minute, SCs StarS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wlodzimierz Kochanowski to maneuver through the defense. Daniel Zorita's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Petr Čech firmly grabbed it by the left post. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Antonio Arias hit a great ball. In the 85th minute of the match Florian Hekman shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Thiago Gol in the 86th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. 87 minutes into the match, SCs StarS's goalkeeper Petr Čech had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thiago Gol in the 93rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristian Sancho in the 95th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Petr Čech prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ecuador's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because SCs StarS had won, even though Ecuador had held more of the ball.
