Mexico were furious when Lorenzo Cazalla was red carded, 94 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 95th match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lorenzo Cazalla to maneuver through the defense. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paavo Maldini in the 96th minute of play. Mexico's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
