The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Näshulta FK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Axel Kilstedt didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Abel Carballo during the 9th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. With 10 minutes on the clock, Alexander Carballo commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Karl-Ove Sandström in the 17th minute of the match. If Fred Lidman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fred Lidman's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Benito Sanz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. After 24 minutes of play, Näshulta FK's Marc Ahlstedt made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a rather tough play, Näshulta FK's Tage Göransson got a free kick in the 26th minute. After having played for 29 minutes, Marc Ahlstedt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Näshulta FK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marc Ahlstedt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Eliseo Noboa struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Erland Spetz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Costa Rica. Lautaro Puig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erland Spetz having to interfere. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fred Lidman, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Fred Lidman kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. Fred Lidman took the ball and in the 47 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4.

Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Xalbador Sparke in the 52nd minute of play. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 63rd minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. Edward Eriksson struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Näshulta FK. In the 69th minute, Lautaro Puig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edward Eriksson in the 76th minute of play. Edward Eriksson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Benito Sanz having to make a save. In the 81st minute, Xalbador Sparke got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edward Eriksson in the 83rd minute of play. Karl-Ove Sandström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. If Karl-Ove Sandström had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Näshulta FK's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
