An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaspar Van Den Broeck in the 35th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Brugge United players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Peru were winning 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Arnauld Van Impe stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 54 minutes Brugge United's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Luz Tejedor who took care of the corner kick. Luz Tejedor made a great header on Peru's corner, it was just that Brugge United's Vítor Baia managed to reach the ball for a save. Julian Murillo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Vítor Baia made a huge save. After 62 minutes Brugge United's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Luz Tejedor who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Peru's corner Emmanuel Reyes fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Vítor Baia quite easily take care of the ball. In the 69th minute, Milagros Fraga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Arnauld Van Impe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 0-2 became the score in the 71st minute when Luz Tejedor elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Julian Murillo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Vítor Baia made a huge save. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. Milagros Fraga came free with the goalkeeper in the 88th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Vítor Baia could save by the left post. In the 91st minute of the match, Rafael Gallo tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Vítor Baia saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Peru's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
