Keylor Navas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maximiliano Escribano, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. 15 minutes into the game, Australian Youth Academy's Garth Brough nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Joaquin Gayoso made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. With a little luck, Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso got control of the ball when Rufus Roach tried to sneak it across the goal line. Australian Youth Academy's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Rufus Roach in the 19th minute. Rufus Roach made a great header on Australian Youth Academy's corner, it was just that Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso managed to reach the ball for a save. 22 minutes in the game, Garth Brough fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Joaquin Gayoso having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 25 minutes, Garth Brough put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. Garth Brough might have been able to make a better finish in the 29th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Joaquin Gayoso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Garth Brough ran back to his position shaking his head. Australian Youth Academy's Garth Brough got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Francisco Seco made a kick off. Keylor Navas made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Maximiliano Escribano sent off a good shot on target. The audience was convinced that Garth Brough's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joaquin Gayoso was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. Garth Brough might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Joaquin Gayoso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maximiliano Escribano in the 61st minute of play forced Australian Youth Academy's goalkeeper Keylor Navas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Garth Brough had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A very good chance for a goal. 76 minutes into the match, Uruguay's goal looked a bit too open when Garth Brough came free, but Joaquin Gayoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 78 minutes into the match, Australian Youth Academy's goalkeeper Keylor Navas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Francisco Seco. Garth Brough scored 6-0 in the 79th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Joaquin Gayoso, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Francisco Seco managed to get in a good position for a shot. Uruguay's supporters rose to their feet, but Francisco Seco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Keylor Navas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Joaquin Gayoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Garth Brough in the 86th minute of the match. Australian Youth Academy's Rufus Roach suffered a sore thigh after 88 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 88 minutes, Francisco Seco mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Uruguay and the Australian Youth Academy players grew even worse after the yellow card. Australian Youth Academy's Larry Baba was substituted for Rufus Roach. The supporters of Australian Youth Academy booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francisco Seco didn't get a good kick on the ball. 93 minutes into the game, Camilo Franco threw the ball into play from the sideline. Australian Youth Academy's Larry Baba quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. When Garth Brough came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Australian Youth Academy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Garth Brough couldn't finish the play. Jorge Sainz charged in rather forcefully in the 95th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jorge Sainz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 95th match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jorge Sainz to maneuver through the defense. 98 minutes had been played when some careless play by Uruguay's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Hermengildo Mambru was slow to take the kick. During this time Australian Youth Academy's players had a chance to rest. Australian Youth Academy were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Uruguay for a fine match.
