Guará FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. After having played for 52 minutes, Ronaldão Paulista managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Guará FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ronaldão Paulista was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 53rd minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nelsinho Nascimento saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Felix Montes got a free kick in the 54th minute. Guará FC were awarded a corner in the 56th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Harold Willson took the corner. In the 73rd minute, Cristian Sancho reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Nelsinho Nascimento. The goal made the score 3-2. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tiago Gabriel Vieira in the 76th minute of play. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Nelsinho Nascimento didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Ronaldão Paulista recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 80 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Nelsinho Nascimento. Cristian Sancho showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-3. Nelsinho Nascimento showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agustín Saelices, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. The audience was convinced that Tiago Gabriel Vieira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 89th minute of the game. Ecuador were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Guará FC to leave the ground with a draw.
