Mario Dutton dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Panathinaikos FC's Mario Dutton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 11th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Cristian Sancho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mario Dutton was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. Mario Dutton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 15th minute of play. After 18 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Felix Montenegro. Mario Dutton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 21st minute of play. Daniel Zorita blasted a shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mario Dutton having to make a save. Mario Dutton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 29th minute of the match. In the 34th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 36 minutes into the match, Panathinaikos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Mario Dutton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 37th minute after Panathinaikos FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Luis Andino fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Mario Dutton quite easily take care of the ball. Paul Iftodi's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Julio Vera firmly grabbed it by the left post. After having played for 41 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 42nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mario Dutton. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. Mario Dutton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felix Montenegro in the 44th minute of play. 45 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mario Dutton narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Dexter Holt made the kick off in the second half. In the 50th minute Glauco Nascimento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 52nd minute of the match Panathinaikos FC got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. 乔光云 ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in 乔光云 almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 54th minute. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Felix Montenegro fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Mario Dutton quite easily take care of the ball. Mario Dutton made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Camilo Gisbert got a free kick in the 65th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 79th minute of play forced Panathinaikos FC's goalkeeper Mario Dutton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Paul Iftodi, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 80 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Julio Vera was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. After 85 minutes of play, Ecuador's Luis Andino made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mario Dutton was left in no man's land by his defense there! Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dexter Holt's shot from short distance in the 90th minute. Mario Dutton was out of position in the 93 minute of play, and Cristian Sancho capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Cristian Sancho really showed his touch with that goal: 0-3. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Panathinaikos FC.
