In the 9th minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lyle Coppack saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carlos Mei kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Mihăiţă Stolniceanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dante Lacasa having to interfere. 18 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Mei came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 22 minutes, Alberto Tafalla took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Lyle Coppack to make any attempt to save it. Lautaro Mancebo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Lyle Coppack made a huge save. In the 35th minute, Facundo Cadaval hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 39 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Mihăiţă Stolniceanu came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 44 minutes, Lars Flinck mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely and the Mexico players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 44 played minutes Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely got a freekick which was hit by Lars Flinck. After 47 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Luca Rouco. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Joel Gaona was the one to do the kick off. 54 minutes into the game, Adrián-Daniel Dobre recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Dante Lacasa. Adrián-Daniel Dobre showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Lorenzo Cazalla lost his temper 57 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Lorenzo Cazalla hit a great ball. 58 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Ladislao Bela came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Ladislao Bela managed to get in a good position for a shot. Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely's supporters rose to their feet, but Ladislao Bela was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dante Lacasa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Lyle Coppack took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Tafalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Adrián-Daniel Dobre could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 66th minute of the match, but Dante Lacasa made a huge save. Mexico's defense didn't have a chance, in the 70th minute, when Mihăiţă Stolniceanu scored to the left of an out of position Dante Lacasa, making the score, 1-2. Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely's Ferdinand Zmărăndache was substituted for Adrián-Daniel Dobre. After a defensive mix-up in Mexico's zone, Carlos Mei stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dante Lacasa came out of the goal and Carlos Mei tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Carlos Mei received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Dante Lacasa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Carlos Mei in the 97th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dante Lacasa saved Mexico from getting behind. The Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
