In the 3rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Paraguay's goalkeeper Jacobo Nores, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Walter Mutuku took the ball and in the 16 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jacobo Nores. Jacobo Nores dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Jacobo Nores showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Shekhar Biwott, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. 34 minutes into the game, Rothwell Park's Walter Mutuku nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jacobo Nores made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. If Shekhar Biwott had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 40th minute Walter Mutuku shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacobo Nores saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 44 minutes into the match, Paraguay's goal looked a bit too open when Walter Mutuku came free, but Jacobo Nores reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jaime Pardo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tony Githinji Muhoho having to interfere.

The wind increased when Jaime Pardo made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Walter Mutuku in the 51st minute of play forced Paraguay's goalkeeper Jacobo Nores to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Hector Covarrubias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Walter Mutuku struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Jacobo Nores didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rothwell Park. Rothwell Park's Abdallah Ali Bungei was substituted for Elijah Leakey. Sammy Keino hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Rothwell Park's Walter Mutuku got a free kick in the 60th minute. Rothwell Park's Walter Mutuku got his second yellow card of the match in the 63rd minute. The referee ordered Walter Mutuku off the ground. The supporters of Paraguay booed when Rothwell Park was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Walter Mutuku didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sammy Keino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Jacobo Nores tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Rothwell Park's Shekhar Biwott got a free kick in the 68th minute. The audience thought it was a sure goal in the 79th minute, when Rothwell Park's Sammy Keino after having done a great run through the defense got himself free with Jacobo Nores in Paraguay's goal and fired away a shot, but it missed the goal by a fraction of an inch. Jaime Pardo struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Tony Githinji Muhoho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Paraguay. Jacobo Nores made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Sammy Keino sent off a good shot on target. Urpo Kanerva hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. In the 94th minute, Sammy Keino made a precise shot to the right of Jacobo Nores. Paraguay's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3.
