Thiago Pliego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gonzalo Hoya in the 26th minute of play. If Godfredo Mikeldi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Gonzalo Hoya's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Thiago Pliego was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. In the 33rd minute, Gerardo Pozo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 39th minute, Gonzalo Hoya left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net.
