Roman Rollins showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Roman Rollins came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Cristian Sancho. But to his dismay, Cristian Sancho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Cristian Sancho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Roman Rollins having to make a save. When Daniel Zorita fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Daniel Zorita a yellow card for diving instead. In the 27th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Zorita to maneuver through the defense. Boca Juniors's Roman Rollins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 36th minute of play. Roman Rollins showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 37th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Roman Rollins made a huge save. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Roman Rollins. Roman Rollins dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. After a rather tough play, Boca Juniors's Shelby Cruz got a free kick in the 61st minute. After a defensive mix-up in Boca Juniors's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roman Rollins came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Brian Herget charged in rather forcefully in the 68th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Brian Herget the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Boca Juniors's Brian Herget got a free kick in the 68th minute. Boca Juniors made a substitution. Sidney Sellers replaced Jason Stuart. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Boca Juniors throughout the match.
