Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Ecuador's Daniel Zorita started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 8th minute, but Julio Vera got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Ecuador hanging dry this time. MEXACOMX's Maurício Meireles was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 13 minutes into the match, MEXACOMX's Ricardo Guerra sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Wu Liang Mo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Januário Rangel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Januário Rangel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 22nd minute of play. Januário Rangel didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 27th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. In the 35th minute MEXACOMX were awarded a corner. Julio-César Romo-Leroux went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Julio-César Romo-Leroux almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. 38 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Januário Rangel. MEXACOMX's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Ricardo Guerra stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Ricardo Guerra tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 46th minute, Maurício Meireles got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Januário Rangel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 55th minute to try and stop a shot by MEXACOMX's Ricardo Guerra. But to his dismay, Ricardo Guerra quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Januário Rangel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Januário Rangel made a huge save. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wu Liang Mo in the 63rd minute of play. Ricardo Guerra's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ricardo Guerra in the 67th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 69th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. MEXACOMX made a substitution. Tomás Jordão replaced Ricardo Guerra. MEXACOMX's Januário Rangel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 74th minute of the match, managed to save MEXACOMX from getting a goal against them. 78 minutes into the match, MEXACOMX's goalkeeper Januário Rangel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. 80 minutes into the match, Luis Andino notched a goal, 1-5, to the right of MEXACOMX's Januário Rangel. Januário Rangel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Januário Rangel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 90th minute. 92 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Januário Rangel made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-6. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
