But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcos Terra in the 97th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ecuador were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
