Eder Saavedra's late challenge caught a Uruguay's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 24th minute Alvaro Morata shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 28th minute Maximiliano Escribano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Berenguer Tolosa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Joaquin Gayoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Graciano Teruel in the 34th minute of the match. After 40 minutes of play, UNITED's Graciano Teruel made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Joaquin Gayoso was left in no man's land by his defense there! Arturo Carvallo kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. After some careless play in the Uruguay defense, Graciano Teruel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. The Uruguay fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joaquin Gayoso should have stopped the shot. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Graciano Teruel stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Camilo Franco got free with Berenguer Tolosa in the 50th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Joaquin Gayoso didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Graciano Teruel went, in the 52nd minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. Graciano Teruel took the ball and in the 54 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Joaquin Gayoso. Joaquin Gayoso dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. A hard shot 58 in the game by Francisco Seco from a close distance when the talented Berenguer Tolosa managed to make a qualified save. UNITED's players were relieved. In the 67th minute, Graciano Teruel ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joaquin Gayoso was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-0. After a defensive mix-up in UNITED's zone, Francisco Seco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Berenguer Tolosa came out of the goal and Francisco Seco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Berenguer Tolosa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francisco Seco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 80th minute of the match, Francisco Seco got a very nice opportunity to score, but Berenguer Tolosa was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 81 minutes into the match, UNITED's Graciano Teruel sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Joaquin Gayoso narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 83rd minute of the match UNITED got a corner. Uruguay's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Colon Manrique ran over to the corner to take the kick. UNITED's Colon Manrique was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Joaquin Gayoso in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Eder Saavedra kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Maximiliano Escribano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Many of Uruguay's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Uruguay may have spent more time on the ball, but UNITED were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
