The Real Santista FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. 8 minutes into the match, Esiquio Villaspasa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Esiquio Villaspasa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Kurt Hamrins short, quick shot in the 14thth minute got Benito Sanz to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Benito Sanz made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Kurt Hamrin sent off a good shot on target. Benito Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kurt Hamrin in the 17th minute. Kurt Hamrin's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 18thth minute, Benito Sanz skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. When Juan Rubio fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Juan Rubio a yellow card for diving instead. In the 19th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Rubio to maneuver through the defense. After 20 minutes of play, Real Santista FC's Kurt Hamrin made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Lautaro Puig during the 28th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Lautaro Puig hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Real Santista FC's Zé Vale got a free kick in the 29th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Real Santista FC's zone, Lautaro Puig stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Magno Leme came out of the goal and Lautaro Puig tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luís Gustavo Ferreira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Benito Sanz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 37th minute of play. In the 38th minute of the match Real Santista FC got a corner. Costa Rica's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Vito Aguiar ran over to the corner to take the kick. After 42 minutes of play Costa Rica's Juan Rubio was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 43rd minute, Juan Rubio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Miroslav Raab made the kick off in the second half. In the 58th minute Miroslav Raab shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Miroslav Raab in the 59th minute of play. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miroslav Raab, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Esiquio Villaspasa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 6-0 became the score in the 69th minute when Jeremias Abreu elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 75th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lautaro Puig to maneuver through the defense. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Miroslav Raab in the 79th minute of the match. After 82 minutes, Aaron Alcocer mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the Real Santista FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miroslav Raab, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. Lautaro Puig struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Magno Leme didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Costa Rica. A collision led to Real Santista FC getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Zé Vale hit a great ball. Miroslav Raab recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luís Gustavo Ferreira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jeremias Abreu took the ball and in the 97 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 7-0.
