Erik Grøneng tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 13 minutes into the match, Kjønstad BF's Wang Fei Xing sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dante Lacasa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 14th minute of play forced Kjønstad BF's goalkeeper Erik Grøneng to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Gaona in the 18th minute. The corner ended in Luca Rouco almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Kjønstad BF's Erik Grøneng did a great save. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Wang Fei Xing managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kjønstad BF's supporters rose to their feet, but Wang Fei Xing was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dante Lacasa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Erik Grøneng took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Erik Grøneng made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 24th minute of play. In the 28th minute Lautaro Mancebo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erik Grøneng saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Wang Fei Xing in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dante Lacasa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 32ndth minute of the game Wang Fei Xing who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mexico's Dante Lacasa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Erik Grøneng made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 35th minute of play. Wang Fei Xing came free with the goalkeeper in the 39th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Dante Lacasa could save by the left post. Wang Fei Xing's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Dante Lacasa firmly grabbed it by the left post. After 45 minutes of play, Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Erik Grøneng was left in no man's land by his defense there! The Kjønstad BF players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Mexico were winning 0-1.

Thanks to some nice moves Alberto Tafalla could shoot a difficult shot in the 59th minute, which Erik Grøneng however easily saved by the left post. In the 60th minute the ball was on its way in behind Kjønstad BF's goalkeeper Erik Grøneng, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Kjønstad BF made a substitution. Theodor Fjermestad replaced Rene Egoitz. Thanks to some nice moves Lautaro Mancebo could shoot a difficult shot in the 71st minute, which Erik Grøneng however easily saved by the left post. Kjønstad BF's Wang Fei Xing suffered a sore thigh after 72 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 72 minutes, Lorenzo Cazalla mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mexico and the Kjønstad BF players grew even worse after the yellow card. Lorenzo Cazalla hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Kjønstad BF made a substitution. In the 94th match minute, Kjønstad BF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stewart Bowden to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Lorenzo Cazalla got a free kick in the 96th minute. The Kjønstad BF fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Mexico were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
