But to his dismay, Guy Rothe quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Adam Daller managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sydney FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Adam Daller was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Thiago Pliego breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Sydney FC getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Guy Rothe hit a great ball. Sydney FC's Emanuel Ogășanu got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 47 minutes into the game, Sydney FC's Emanuel Ogășanu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Thiago Pliego made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Thiago Pliego stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Emanuel Ogășanu's shot from short distance in the 58th minute. In the 63rd play minute Mariano Lacasa came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Sebastian Titz. 2-3. Guy Rothe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 72nd minute, Pedro Indiano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Emanuel Ogășanu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Thiago Pliego was relentless in the 76th minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Günter Vogelweide in the 80th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Thiago Pliego prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Thiago Pliego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Günter Vogelweide in the 85th minute of play. Emanuel Ogășanu scored 3-3 in the 89th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Thiago Pliego, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mariano Lacasa got free with Sebastian Titz in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
