With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 7th minute. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Danny Pasquier quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Avel Vat was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guillaume Minier didn't get a good kick on the ball. Danny Pasquier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 10th minute of play. When Avel Vat's Youri Djorkaeff in the 13th minute got a chance for a shot 13th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 25th minute of play forced Avel Vat's goalkeeper Danny Pasquier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 33 minutes into the match, Avel Vat's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Danny Pasquier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Danny Pasquier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

A collision led to Avel Vat getting a freekick after 50 minutes play. Guillaume Minier hit a great ball. Malcom Vrignon hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. 56 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Danny Pasquier was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Avel Vat's defense didn't have a chance, in the 70th minute, when Daniel Zorita scored to the left of an out of position Danny Pasquier, making the score, 0-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Youri Djorkaeff managed to get in a good position for a shot. Avel Vat's supporters rose to their feet, but Youri Djorkaeff was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 86th minute Juan Sebastián Puig shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Danny Pasquier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 87th minute after Avel Vat's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Avel Vat's goalie and right to Agustín Saelices. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Avel Vat's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edmond Kubiak, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. 94 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Avel Vat's Danny Pasquier. Danny Pasquier was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Avel Vat throughout the match.
