After a defensive mix-up in Peru's zone, Jonathan Sammut stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rolando Noboa came out of the goal and Jonathan Sammut tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 18 minutes in the game Evan Vancell did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Staffan Apelqvist. If Joaquin Phoenix had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rolando Noboa made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Jonathan Sammut sent off a good shot on target. André Courtois took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 30 minutes, Julian Murillo put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of André Courtois. 34 minutes into the match, Peru's Eliseo Mina sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that André Courtois narrowly saved just below the crossbar. André Courtois made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 38th minute of play. In the 39th minute, Julian Murillo made a precise shot to the right of André Courtois. Templars FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. After 43 played minutes Peru got a freekick which was hit by Alonso Berganza. Luz Tejedor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without André Courtois having to interfere. The Templars FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Peru were winning 0-3.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Julian Murillo to strike the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Templars FC's Bonifacio Turri got a free kick in the 51st minute. A sloppy throw-in by Ritchie Engelborgh in the 73rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Peru's Milagros Fraga. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Adelino Marques during the 74th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Julian Murillo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but André Courtois made a huge save.
