In the 32nd minute, Khamzat Chimaev left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The The Heren Istarion fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. When Tomas Illescas came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Venezuela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Illescas couldn't finish the play. When Alex Chicote fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Alex Chicote a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Alex Chicote hit a great ball. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Khamzat Chimaev's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Elberg Azov in the 40th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Elberg Azov stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Elberg Azov tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 46 minutes into the game, Khamzat Chimaev cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tomas Illescas to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, one of Venezuela:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Venezuela.
