The audience thought a goal was coming when Andolín Echeandía got free with Rolando Noboa in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Rolando Noboa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gary Medel went, in the 13th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. After a rather tough play, Lautaro L.P.'s Willem-Jan Van Hinnendael got a free kick in the 15th minute. In the 20th minute Eliseo Mina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Salvador Ortega saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 22 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Salvador Ortega narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Peru's Julian Murillo got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 31st minute of the match, Andolín Echeandía got a very nice opportunity to score, but Rolando Noboa was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

In the 53rd minute of the match, Eliseo Mina tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Salvador Ortega saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After some careless play in the Lautaro L.P. defense, Eliseo Mina kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Salvador Ortega. The Lautaro L.P. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Salvador Ortega should have stopped the shot. Salvador Ortega made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 57th minute of play. Ayudha á Bø made in the 60th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Peru's Eliseo Mina. The throw-in from Ayudha á Bø in the 62nd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Peru's Eliseo Mina. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andolín Echeandía in the 68th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Peru's Anthony Alvarado got a free kick in the 70th minute. Lautaro L.P.'s Leandro Marques was substituted for Reşit Beyan. Rafael Gallo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Salvador Ortega read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 91st minute of the game. One of Peru:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Lautaro L.P.:s goal.
