Ivan Krile tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Donat Janeš's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Ivan Krile quite easily take care of the ball. When Agustín Saelices came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Agustín Saelices couldn't finish the play. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee ended the match the Ecuador players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
