The Hidrocarburo FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kauno Pirnes should have stopped the shot. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nemesio Sol in the 23rd minute of play. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Kauno Pirnes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 30th minute of play forced Hidrocarburo FC's goalkeeper Kauno Pirnes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kauno Pirnes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 35 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Kauno Pirnes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Kauno Pirnes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 40th minute of play. Kauno Pirnes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. After 50 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Agustín Saelices. In the 53rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 76th minute, Nicodim Mangra got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kahlil Suwandi in the 91st minute of the match. 92 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Mariano Valensuela was slow to take the kick. During this time Hidrocarburo FC's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Mariano Valensuela got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The Hidrocarburo FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
