Kjell Sjöö came out of the goal in the 15th minute to try and stop a shot by Venezuela's Tomas Illescas. But to his dismay, Tomas Illescas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Illescas in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kjell Sjöö saved Curiphila Eagles from getting behind. Erik Vihonskýs short, quick shot in the 31stth minute got Jonathan Ferrant to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 35 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Erik Vihonský. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 37th minute of play forced Curiphila Eagles's goalkeeper Kjell Sjöö to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kjell Sjöö showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Cristian Vides hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. After 43 minutes, Patricio Costa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Venezuela and the Curiphila Eagles players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Curiphila Eagles booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patricio Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Patricio Costa kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Jonathan Ferrant made an important save on a dangerous shot by Erik Vihonský in the 45th minute. After having played for 47 minutes, Patricio Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Patricio Costa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Illescas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Rigoberto Mina hit a great ball. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lúcio Sá in the 64th minute of play. In the 66th minute Erik Vihonský shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kjell Sjöö having to interfere.
