After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Eddie Godholm stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. In the 27thth minute of the game Eddie Godholm who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Tomas Illescas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Leandro Ricoy read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Illescas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leandro Ricoy breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eddie Godholm in the 42nd minute of the match. 44 minutes had been played when some careless play by Venezuela's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Bengt Alegren was slow to take the kick. During this time Kärnan BK's players had a chance to rest. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Christoffer Brandin was the one to do the kick off.
