When Francisco Seco came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Uruguay fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Francisco Seco couldn't finish the play. Uruguay's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bernt Kihlberg was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Billy Fågel charged in rather forcefully in the 38th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After 40 minutes Mantorp's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Jaime Cazalla who took care of the corner kick. Jaime Cazalla made a great header on Uruguay's corner, it was just that Mantorp's Sven-Olof Gummeson managed to reach the ball for a save. 42 minutes into the match, Uruguay's goal looked a bit too open when Bernt Kihlberg came free, but Joaquin Gayoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Joaquin Gayoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bernt Kihlberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Bernt Kihlberg's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joaquin Gayoso was relentless in the 52nd minute of the game. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Mantorp would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
