Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Lautaro Mancebo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Oswaldo Velloso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Oswaldo Velloso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 8th minute of the match. In the 10th match minute, Paraná Clube PG was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Angelo Gaspar to maneuver through the defense. Joel Gaona's shot from long distance in the 10th minute was not bad at all, but Paraná Clube PG's Oswaldo Velloso knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. In the 18th match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lorenzo Cazalla to maneuver through the defense. Oswaldo Velloso made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Lautaro Mancebo sent off a good shot on target. Felix Luque kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mazinho Valadares in the 28th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joel Gaona might have been able to make a better finish in the 29th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Oswaldo Velloso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Joel Gaona ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 29th minute, Lorenzo Cazalla hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ernani Rosa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dante Lacasa having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 36th minute of play forced Paraná Clube PG's goalkeeper Oswaldo Velloso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joel Gaona took the ball and in the 38 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Oswaldo Velloso. Oswaldo Velloso dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Alberto Tafalla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oswaldo Velloso having to interfere. In the 43rd minute, Kauan Negri hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 45 played minutes, Mexico's Joel Gaona shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Oswaldo Velloso came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Mexico reached it. Oswaldo Velloso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Roberto Eger made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roberto Eger in the 50th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mexico's Dante Lacasa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Mexico from getting a goal against them. 59 minutes into the game, Lautaro Mancebo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Oswaldo Velloso was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience was convinced that Joel Gaona's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Oswaldo Velloso was relentless in the 64th minute of the game. After some careless play in the Paraná Clube PG defense, Joel Gaona kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Oswaldo Velloso. The Paraná Clube PG fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Oswaldo Velloso should have stopped the shot. Lautaro Mancebo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Oswaldo Velloso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Paraná Clube PG's André Luiz Fonseca was substituted for Angelo Gaspar. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Gaona in the 80th minute. After taking down the ball on Mexico's corner Joel Gaona fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Oswaldo Velloso quite easily take care of the ball. Joel Gaona sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Oswaldo Velloso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Oswaldo Velloso came out of the goal in the 84th minute to try and stop a shot by Mexico's Joel Gaona. But to his dismay, Joel Gaona quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. Oswaldo Velloso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. After 88 minutes Paraná Clube PG's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Joel Gaona who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Mexico's Joel Gaona to fire away a dangerous shot which Oswaldo Velloso despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Ernani Rosa's late challenge caught a Mexico's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ernani Rosa helped the player get up and apologised. In the 93rd minute, Ernani Rosa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Mexico fans cheered their team off the field, for while Paraná Clube PG had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
