In the 13th minute, Bernard Pacolet got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emanuel Vanooteghem in the 26th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita in the 29thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Bavo Van Eeckhout, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Bavo Van Eeckhout in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Bavo Van Eeckhout showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Emanuel Vanooteghem made the kick off in the second half. Emanuel Vanooteghem's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. Bavo Van Eeckhout breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Bavo Van Eeckhout took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Emanuel Vanooteghem received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. Emanuel Vanooteghem could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. Bavo Van Eeckhout made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agustín Saelices in the 90th minute of play. After having played for 91 minutes, Emanuel Vanooteghem managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sinsin's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emanuel Vanooteghem was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Emanuel Vanooteghem got free with Julio Vera in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Despite being the better team, Ecuador failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
