The audience thought a goal was coming when Ricardinho Carioca got free with Julio Vera in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to Czar Sporting getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Remo Velasco hit a great ball. 24 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Zé Roberto Castro came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 28th minute of play forced Czar Sporting's goalkeeper Tostão Arantes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zé Roberto Castro was slow to take the kick. During this time Czar Sporting's players had a chance to rest. The Czar Sporting players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. After having played for 54 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Zé Roberto Castro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 65 minutes into the match, Czar Sporting's goalkeeper Tostão Arantes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Bogdan Olejarz kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Czar Sporting's André Luís Leal was substituted for Ricardinho Carioca. After 67 played minutes Czar Sporting got a freekick which was hit by Bogdan Olejarz. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Czar Sporting was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bogdan Olejarz didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 74th minute of the match Daniel Zorita sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tostão Arantes skillfully saved the ball. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Czar Sporting was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulo Nunes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Tostão Arantes made a huge save. After 83 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Felix Montes. In the 84th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Montes to maneuver through the defense. In the 85th minute, Juan Sebastián Puig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 86th minute Zé Roberto Castro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 87 minutes of play, Ecuador's Luis Andino made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tostão Arantes was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Felix Montes fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Felix Montes a yellow card for diving instead. Felix Montes hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from André Luís Leal in the 94th minute of play.
